Cambodia launches nationwide compliance drive to help SMEs compete globally
PHNOM PENH, June 30, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has rolled out a nationwide campaign to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) strengthen product quality, meet compliance standards and boost competitiveness as they seek to expand into regional and international markets, officials said.
The Business Development and Product Compliance Campaign, jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) and the Association of Cambodia Investment Federation, gathered around 2,000 entrepreneurs, manufacturers and business representatives. The initiative promotes quality, productivity, standards and innovation as key drivers of sustainable growth.

Industry Minister Hem Vanndy said Cambodia’s next phase of development requires businesses to compete not only on cost but increasingly on quality, compliance and innovation. “Compliance is not a business cost. It is a business investment,” he told participants, stressing that investment in standards, testing and innovation builds consumer confidence and stronger brands.
The campaign introduces public services and government incentives to support enterprises from establishment to certification and market expansion. MISTI also highlighted efforts to streamline and digitalize services, making it easier for businesses to comply with regulations and prepare for global competition.
Officials said the drive forms part of Cambodia’s broader strategy to strengthen industrial competitiveness and build a resilient, innovation-driven economy under the Pentagonal Strategy and Vision 2050.
