Cambodia Bolsters Productivity Centre to Drive Industrial Transformation
PHNOM PENH, June 11, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia is strengthening its national productivity institution as part of efforts to support industrial transformation, boost competitiveness and prepare for graduation from Least Developed Country status by 2029, officials said Wednesday.
The Asian Productivity Organization (APO) and the National Productivity Centre of Cambodia (NPCC) under the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation convened a validation workshop on the Institutional Capability Development Plan.

The event gathered representatives from around 15 government agencies and partner organizations to review assessment findings and refine a roadmap for enhancing NPCC’s role as the country’s productivity hub.
Secretary of State Phork Sovanrith, APO Director for Cambodia, said productivity is critical to sustaining growth and modernizing industry. “NPCC plays a significant role in unlocking productivity at the grassroots level through efficiency, cost reduction, time savings, creativity, innovation and human capital development,” he noted.
Officials said the plan — dubbed “NPCC 2.0” — is designed to strengthen institutional capacity, expand services and ensure long‑term sustainability. The roadmap aims to transform NPCC into a more effective national productivity institution capable of supporting Cambodia’s industrial development agenda and advancing higher‑value industries as the country approaches LDC graduation.
