Senate President Calls for Stronger Cambodia–France Trade and Investment Ties

PHNOM PENH, Feb 25, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen has urged closer cooperation with France in trade, economic affairs and investment, highlighting the importance of expanding bilateral ties.
The appeal was made during a meeting on Feb 25 with Thomas Lam, President of the France–Cambodia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Senate spokesperson Chea Thyrith said.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored the longstanding relationship between the two countries and encouraged deeper collaboration, particularly in economic and investment sectors.
Lam welcomed the remarks, agreeing on the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade and development.
According to the spokesperson, Samdech Techo described Lam’s visit and that of his delegation as a significant step in reinforcing relations, especially through closer engagement between the legislative bodies of both nations.
During the meeting, Thomas also praised Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s leadership during his tenure as prime minister, citing Cambodia’s economic growth and what he described as the achievement of peace.
He added that development efforts are continuing under current Prime Minister Hun Manet.
