PHNOM PENH, Jan.09,2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior accused Thailand of violating a ceasefire by deploying drones along the border late Tuesday.

The ministry said two Thai drones were detected over Pursat province and 25 over Preah Vihear province on the night of Jan. 7.

It called the flights a violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and contrary to the spirit of the ceasefire agreement.

Officials said the ministry was monitoring developments in coordination with the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces while maintaining security measures in affected border areas.

Cambodia urged Thailand to halt all military activities along the border and withdraw personnel and equipment to positions consistent with the legally recognized boundary.

It also called for respect for the Joint Boundary Commission’s role in resolving disputes under existing agreements and international law.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to the ceasefire signed July 28, 2025, and subsequent joint declarations aimed at ensuring peace.

The statement said Cambodia would not compromise on sovereignty or territorial integrity and urged citizens to support the government’s approach to security and diplomacy while remaining vigilant against misinformation.
