Cambodians in South Korea Protest Thai Military Strikes
SEOUL/GWANGJU, South Korea (Dec. 15, 2025) — More than 2,000 Cambodians in South Korea staged coordinated protests Saturday, denouncing what they called Thailand’s “brutal” military aggression against Cambodia and demanding an immediate halt to hostilities.
Demonstrations took place in Seoul and Gwangju, where protesters carried banners and chanted slogans urging Thai forces to respect international law and abide by the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire signed in Kuala Lumpur.
In Seoul, more than 300 demonstrators marched near the Thai Embassy and submitted a petition calling for an end to the violence. In Gwangju, over 2,000 Cambodians gathered in one of the largest overseas rallies since the latest escalation of border clashes.
Organizers pressed Thailand to comply with humanitarian law and honor the peace agreement witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, ASEAN’s current chair.
The rallies followed earlier demonstrations on Dec. 13 across several South Korean cities, reflecting growing concern among overseas Cambodian communities over the conflict’s humanitarian toll.
