PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 9, 2025) — The Russian Embassy in Cambodia has issued a security alert urging its citizens to exercise heightened caution amid escalating clashes along the Cambodia–Thailand border, becoming the latest foreign mission to warn nationals as the conflict intensifies.

In its advisory, the embassy’s Consular Department urged Russian citizens to avoid all travel to border provinces, specifically Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear, where fighting between Cambodian and Thai forces has grown more severe in recent days.

The embassy also called on Russian nationals to closely monitor announcements from Cambodian authorities and updates posted on the embassy’s website and social media channels. Travelers were instructed to comply strictly with local authorities and follow directions from military and law enforcement personnel.

Russia’s warning follows similar alerts from other foreign governments and international organizations, which have raised alarms over civilian casualties, mass displacement and damage to border‑area infrastructure as the conflict worsens.
