Cambodia Hosts ASIP 2025 on AI Governance
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 5, 2025) — Cambodia strengthened its regional role in science and innovation as it hosted the 15th Asia Innovation and Policy (ASIP) Conference at CamTech University, where experts from 11 countries gathered to discuss responsible governance of rapidly advancing smart technologies.
Opening the conference, Hem Vanndy, minister of industry, science, technology and innovation, said governments face the challenge of guiding technologies such as AI, robotics, quantum computing and biotechnology with responsibility and foresight.
He noted Cambodia is building a stronger innovation ecosystem through its Science, Technology and Innovation Roadmap 2030, particularly by investing in STEM talent.
ASIP President Ko Young-Joo underscored the community’s commitment to high-quality research that supports industry needs, while CamTech University President Kheang Sothy said the event reflects Cambodia’s growing leadership in ASEAN’s innovation landscape.
Held under the theme “Governing Emerging Smart Technologies,” the week-long conference featured policy dialogues and presentations on ethical and transparent approaches to adopting advanced technologies, aiming to guide the region toward a sustainable innovation-driven future.
