Samdech Techo Marks One Year Since Krama’s UNESCO Heritage Listing
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 4, 2025) — Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Thursday marked the one-year anniversary of the krama’s inscription on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list, calling for continued efforts to protect the symbol of Cambodian identity.
In a message issued Dec. 4, Samdech Techo Hun Sen noted it has been exactly one year since UNESCO officially listed the krama during its 19th Intergovernmental Committee meeting in Asunción, Paraguay.

He described the recognition as a historic milestone that honors the krama’s importance as both a practical daily garment and a cultural emblem present in ceremonies, traditions and Cambodia’s national identity.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen urged all Cambodians to preserve and promote krama weaving and usage so the heritage can be passed on to future generations.
