Record 16,000 Runners to Mark 30th Angkor Half Marathon, Boosting Siem Reap Tourism
SIEM REAP, Cambodia (Dec. 3, 2025) — The 30th Angkor International Half Marathon is set to break a record with 16,000 runners from 86 countries registered for the Dec. 7 race, giving a major boost to Siem Reap’s tourism recovery.
National Olympic Committee of Cambodia Secretary-General Vath Chamroeun said the strong turnout — including more than 3,000 international runners — underscores the global appeal of the Angkor temple complex and reflects Cambodia’s peace, stability and growing investment in sports and tourism.

He said the annual marathon has become one of the country’s largest sporting events, generating significant economic activity in Siem Reap. Hotels, restaurants, transportation services and vendors benefit from thousands of visitors requiring accommodation, food and travel support.
Chamroeun also emphasized the event’s humanitarian purpose. Organized with Japan’s Heart of Gold and supported by multiple partners, the marathon donates funds each year to charitable organizations. In 2024, it contributed more than $100,000 to social causes.
