VIENTIANE (Nov. 28, 2025) — Cambodia and Laos reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their Comprehensive and Long-Lasting Strategic Partnership, agreeing to deepen cooperation in trade, energy, border demarcation, and regional stability during the 15th Meeting of the Cambodia–Laos Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) in Vientiane.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn co-chaired the meeting with Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavan Phomvihane. Sokhonn conveyed greetings from Cambodia’s leadership ahead of Laos’ 50th National Day, while Lao leaders emphasized the enduring friendship and solidarity between the two nations.

Both sides reviewed progress since the last JCBC meeting and expressed satisfaction with achievements in political, economic, and security cooperation. They agreed to strengthen high-level exchanges and establish a mechanism for closer consultations between their foreign ministries.

The ministers highlighted opportunities to expand trade and investment, pledged to boost business-to-business engagement, and reaffirmed their resolve to accelerate border demarcation while maintaining peace along the frontier.

Energy cooperation remained a priority, with Cambodia thanking Laos for its ongoing energy supply and both sides committing to reinforce existing agreements. Discussions also covered agriculture, tourism, connectivity, and regional issues.

The meeting concluded with the signing of Agreed Minutes and a decision to hold the 16th JCBC in Cambodia in 2027, underscoring momentum in advancing the long-term partnership.
