Hun Manet Reaffirms Peaceful Border Resolution in Call With Malaysian PM Anwar

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.14, 2025) — Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to resolving its border dispute with Thailand through peaceful means and agreed mechanisms during a phone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Nov. 14.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet emphasized that Cambodia remains dedicated to dialogue and conflict resolution in line with the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord, signed last month and witnessed by U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“I expressed my sincere thanks to His Excellency Anwar for continuing to play an important and active role in facilitating and seeking a peaceful resolution between Cambodia and Thailand,” Samdech Thipadei said following the call.

He reiterated Cambodia’s support for the principles outlined in the Oct. 26 Joint Declaration, which aims to end the conflict and build lasting peace between the two countries.

On Thursday night, Anwar, who currently chairs ASEAN, also held separate calls with Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to address rising border tensions.

He said both leaders offered “constructive and positive views” and reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful resolution.

Anwar stressed Malaysia’s readiness to facilitate talks and its desire to see the ceasefire upheld and bilateral ties strengthened.
