PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct. 6, 2025) — Cambodian authorities have temporarily sealed a warehouse in Phnom Penh after discovering dozens of tons of imported frozen meat during a joint inspection on Oct. 5.

The facility, operated by Im Sophannarith Import Export Co., Ltd., is reportedly owned by Oknha Im Sophannarith, widely known as “Chhorn Touch.” Located in Chrang Chamres 1, Russey Keo district, the warehouse contained large quantities of frozen chicken thighs, wings, feet, duck heads and pig intestines.

Officials said the products were imported from Thailand via Vietnam and Laos for distribution across Cambodian markets. The General Department of Customs and Excise confirmed that all import duties had been paid and the facility met temperature control standards. Initial tests showed no presence of harmful chemicals such as formalin.

Authorities collected 15 samples for further microbiological testing and sealed the warehouse pending results. Sales and distribution have been suspended during the investigation.

Officials described the move as part of routine enforcement to ensure food safety and customs compliance.

The case has drawn public attention due to Chhorn Touch’s high-profile status and her husband’s reported role as a provincial police chief near the Thai border.
No charges have been filed. The GDCE said further information will be released following lab results.
