TOKYO, Japan (Sept.30, 2025) — Cambodian Senior Minister Sok Siphana met Monday with Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs MIYAJI Takuma in Tokyo to discuss strengthening bilateral economic ties and advancing cooperation on the development of Cambodia’s Sihanoukville Port.

Siphana, who also chairs Cambodia’s Trade Policy Advisory Board and the CP-TPP Study Working Group, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to multilateralism and a rules-based international order.

He emphasized Cambodia’s desire to contribute to regional peace and stability and expressed hope for Japan’s continued support of its diplomatic stance.

The meeting comes amid regional tensions, with Japan earlier this month urging Cambodia and Thailand to exercise restraint and resolve disputes through dialogue. Japanese investors have voiced concerns over supply chain disruptions and the impact on regional trade flows.
