PHNOM PENH, April 7, 2026 (KPT) – Prime Minister Hun Manet has arrived in France for an official visit where he is expected to hold talks with President Emmanuel Macron on strengthening bilateral relations, government spokesman Pen Bona said Tuesday.

The visit, taking place from April 6 to 9, aims to expand cooperation across politics, security, trade, investment and cultural exchange, with the longer-term goal of elevating ties to a strategic partnership.

Officials said the two leaders will also discuss international issues, including preparations for the Francophonie Summit to be hosted in Phnom Penh later this year, as well as regional and global developments.

During the trip, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet will attend the One Health Summit in Lyon on April 7, part of the One Planet Summit framework, which brings together global leaders and scientists to address challenges linking human, animal and environmental health.

He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and other senior officials. Bona said the visit reflects Cambodia’s broader diplomatic push to promote national interests, noting recent trips to the United States and Europe.

The spokesman also highlighted ongoing border tensions with Thailand, saying Cambodia rejects unilateral claims and has urged Bangkok to halt actions that risk escalating disputes.
