PHNOM PENH, May 13, 2026 (KPT) — Vietnamese Politburo member Trinh Van Quyet praised Cambodia’s social and economic progress on Wednesday, expressing confidence the country would achieve further development under Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet’s leadership.

Quyet, head of the Communist Party’s Central Commission for Propaganda, Education and Mass Mobilisation, made the remarks during high‑level talks in Phnom Penh.

He highlighted nearly six decades of diplomatic ties and said Vietnam remained committed to advancing cooperation with Cambodia to a higher level in line with agreed visions.

He added that the Communist Party of Vietnam would continue promoting collaboration across all sectors.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet congratulated Vietnam on its achievements and welcomed the strengthening of bilateral relations, describing cooperation as expanding across government, party and people‑to‑people channels.

He noted the long history of ties, saying the two countries had faced challenges together over the past six decades.

Both sides pledged to deepen cooperation based on mutual trust and good neighbourly relations. Discussions covered politics, trade, defence, culture and tourism, with agreement to continue promoting closer ties in the future.

According to data from ministry of commerce, Cambodia–Vietnam trade reached USD 11.33 billion in 2025, an 11.7% increase from 2024.

Cambodia’s exports totaled USD 5.66 billion, while imports from Vietnam stood at USD 5.67 billion. Both governments have reaffirmed a joint target to raise bilateral trade to USD 20 billion in the coming years.
