Cambodia, India Conclude Joint Military Exercise CINBAX II

PHNOM PENH, May 18, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and India have wrapped up a two‑week bilateral military exercise focused on peacekeeping training, drone warfare and cordon‑and‑search operations, officials said.
The closing ceremony for CINBAX II was held May 16 at the Techo Sen Phnom Thom Mras Prov base in Kampong Speu province, presided over by Royal Cambodian Army commander General Mao Sophan and Indian Ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung.
According to the Cambodian Army, the drills included command‑post exercises, tactical manoeuvres, live‑fire training, house intervention operations and exchanges on drone and counter‑drone technologies.
General Sophan described the exercise as a symbol of solidarity and partnership, highlighting Cambodia’s historical and cultural ties with India and recalling New Delhi’s support during Cambodia’s post‑Khmer Rouge reconstruction.
Ambassador Bawitlung said the exercise reflected growing trust and cooperation, noting defence ties have expanded through training, capacity‑building and professional exchanges.
Officials praised participating troops for professionalism and mutual respect, saying the drills further strengthened bilateral friendship and defence cooperation.
