Cambodia Chamber of Commerce Chief Sees GDP at USD 53 Billion in 2026; NBC Forecasts 5% Growth

PHNOM PENH, January 30, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Chamber of Commerce President Kith Meng said the country’s economy is expected to expand to USD 53 billion in 2026, with GDP per capita reaching about USD 3,020, marking a sharp rise from just USD 300 in 2000.

Speaking at the chamber’s annual general assembly on January 28, Kith Meng noted that Cambodia’s GDP stood at only USD 716 million in 1980, highlighting the scale of economic transformation over the past four decades. He said Cambodia maintained solid growth of 5% in 2025 despite global headwinds, including geopolitical tensions, the Russia–Ukraine war, Middle East instability and border disputes with Thailand.

According to the government’s medium‑term fiscal framework, GDP per capita was projected at USD 2,924 in 2025, supported by growth of 6.3% across key sectors: industry up 8.6%, services up 5.6%, and agriculture up 1.1%, with inflation contained at 2.5%.

The National Bank of Cambodia recently forecast economic growth of around 5% in 2026 with inflation at 2.3%, stressing cautious monetary policy to maintain stability. NBC Governor Chea Serey said deeper regional integration, infrastructure investment and multilateral cooperation would be critical foundations for sustaining growth.  

Together, the chamber and central bank projections underscore Cambodia’s resilience and ambition to strengthen competitiveness as it moves toward graduation from least‑developed country status.
