Techo International Airport Ranked Among World’s Top New Terminals
PHNOM PENH, June 2, 2026 (KPT) — The State Secretariat for Civil Aviation of Cambodia (SSCA) has hailed the international recognition of Techo International Airport after the country’s new gateway was ranked among the world’s top new airport terminals by the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2026.
Civil Aviation Secretariat spokesperson Sinn Chanserey Vutha described the achievement as a major milestone for Cambodia’s aviation sector after Techo International secured fifth place in the “World’s Best New Airport Terminal 2026” category.

The ranking was announced in London on March 18 during the Skytrax awards ceremony held alongside the Passenger Terminal Expo.
Skytrax said the category evaluates terminals opened within the past 18 months based on passenger surveys covering facilities, staff services, operational efficiency and overall customer experience.
Vutha said the recognition reflects Cambodia’s rising aviation standards and places the kingdom alongside some of the world’s most advanced airport developments. “This is an important international achievement for Cambodia,” he said, noting the country’s growing role in regional aviation and connectivity.
The top four rankings went to Aso Kumamoto Airport in Japan, Guangzhou Baiyun Terminal 3 in China, San Diego International Terminal 1 in the United States and Navi Mumbai International Airport in India. Techo International, located south of Phnom Penh, began operations in September 2025 and is classified as a 4F‑category airport capable of handling the largest commercial aircraft, including the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747‑800.
SSCA said the $2.15 billion project is central to Cambodia’s strategy to become a regional transport, tourism and logistics hub, with expansion targets of 30 million passengers by 2030 and 50 million by 2050. Despite a 4 percent decline in passenger traffic in early 2026, air cargo demand rose sharply, underscoring the sector’s resilience.
