Unilever plans local production expansion in Cambodia as government strengthens investment climate
PHNOM PENH, June 30, 2026 (KPT) – Global consumer goods giant Unilever is preparing to establish local production lines in Cambodia, marking a significant expansion of its 23‑year presence in the Kingdom as the government works to strengthen the investment climate, officials said Monday.
Commerce Minister Cham Nimul met Ali Tariq, Unilever’s regional head for Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos, together with the company’s local management. Nimul welcomed Unilever’s continued confidence in Cambodia, noting its contribution to consumer well‑being and the economy through a diverse range of products.

Tariq briefed the minister on Unilever’s business progress and diversification of import sources to secure supply. He revealed plans to expand operations by setting up production lines in Cambodia in the near future.
Nimul highlighted ongoing reforms to improve the business environment, including stronger enforcement of intellectual property rights, fair competition and transparency. She expressed confidence Unilever would broaden its product portfolio by manufacturing selected goods locally, strengthening domestic production capacity and supporting industrial development.
The planned expansion reflects growing investor confidence in Cambodia’s reforms and aligns with the government’s strategy to attract higher‑value manufacturing, promote local value addition and enhance the country’s role in regional supply chains.
