Cambodia–Vietnam trade climbs 9% in H1 2026, exports up nearly 15%

PHNOM PENH, July 13, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia earned more than US$2.52 billion from exports to Vietnam in the first half of 2026, a year‑on‑year increase of 14.9 percent, official data showed Monday.

Figures from the General Department of Customs and Excise said bilateral trade between the two neighbours reached US$4.72 billion between January and June, up 9 percent from the same period last year. Cambodian exports accounted for US$2.52 billion, while imports from Vietnam stood at US$2.20 billion, a rise of 2.9 percent.

Cambodia’s main exports to Vietnam included rice, rubber, cashew nuts, cassava, maize, bananas, mangoes and tobacco. Vietnam’s shipments to Cambodia comprised construction materials, machinery, fuel, electronic and electrical equipment, fertilisers, spices and fresh produce.

Lao Vichetr, vice‑president of the Cambodia–China Commerce Association, said Vietnam’s economic growth had boosted demand for Cambodian agricultural products, which remain competitive in price. “Vietnam’s expanding economy is driving higher demand, while our farm products are competitive,” he said.

The Cambodian government has pledged to expand bilateral trade with Vietnam to US$20 billion in the coming years.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, Cambodia–Vietnam trade was valued at US$7.7 billion in 2025, down nearly 1 percent from 2024. Cambodia exported US$3.72 billion worth of goods to Vietnam last year, up 0.82 percent, while imports fell 2.53 percent to US$4 billion.
