Cambodia, UN to Deepen Cooperation on Skills, Jobs
PHNOM PENH, Feb 4, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Labour Ministry and the United Nations have agreed to intensify cooperation on skills training and youth employment, officials said Tuesday after talks in Phnom Penh.
Labour Minister Heng Sour and newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator Vladanka Andreeva outlined plans to expand technical and vocational education and training (TVET), strengthen youth employment programmes under the Decent Work Country Programme and Decent Employment for Youth in Cambodia Phase III, and advance initiatives under the Global Accelerator Roadmap.

Heng said the government was also working to improve working conditions, set minimum wages, expand social security, and create jobs — particularly for returning migrant workers from Thailand — through nationwide job fairs. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to building a productive workforce aligned with sustainable development goals.
Andreeva praised the ministry’s efforts and pledged the UN’s continued support, stressing inclusive and resilient approaches to help Cambodia achieve its long-term economic vision.
