PHNOM PENH, Jan 19, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s tourism ministry has moved to reassure international visitors that the country remains safe and stable, following travel advisories issued by several foreign embassies highlighting security concerns in certain border areas.

In a statement, the ministry said it appreciated the sharing of advisory information but warned that some maps and warnings may have created misunderstandings about the overall safety situation.

It stressed that the precautions applied only to specific frontier zones and should not be generalized to the entire country. Major destinations including Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Preah Sihanouk continue to operate normally and remain fully open to visitors, the ministry said.

“The Kingdom of Cambodia remains a safe, secure and stable tourism destination for both national and international tourists,” the statement added.

The ministry reaffirmed its readiness to cooperate with foreign missions and stakeholders to provide accurate and up-to-date information, and urged embassies, media and tourists to disseminate travel-related guidance responsibly so as not to unduly affect the sector.
