PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 12, 2025) — Amru Rice, one of Cambodia’s leading rice exporters, has injected nearly USD 15 million into rural communities this harvest season by purchasing close to 50,000 tons of paddy rice.

Song Saran, CEO of Amru Rice (Cambodia), said the company’s procurement from October to December included an additional USD 3 to 5 million paid above prevailing market prices to ensure farmers receive fairer and more stable incomes.

He said the approach reflects Amru Rice’s long-standing commitment to improving livelihoods and promoting sustainable agriculture.

With the harvest nearly complete, only about 3,000 tons of paddy remain available for purchase this year, according to Saran.

The company’s purchases are made through contract farming agreements, focusing on organic and premium rice varieties cultivated by community-based groups across several provinces. These include Phka Rumduol, Phka Malis, Sen Kro Ob and Sro Nge Kro Ob, varieties that have strengthened Cambodia’s reputation for high-quality fragrant rice.

Saran said Amru Rice also provides incentives and price bonuses for premium varieties, reinforcing its strategy to elevate Cambodian rice standards while ensuring farmers benefit directly from market demand.
