Cambodia Promotes Investment Opportunities at Russian Export Forum Amid Strengthening Bilateral Ties

MOSCOW, Russia (Oct. 24, 2025) — Cambodia is ramping up efforts to attract foreign investment and deepen trade ties with Russia, as Undersecretary of State LIM Phanphearak from the Ministry of Commerce represented the Kingdom at the “Made in Russia – International Export Forum” held in Moscow on Oct. 21.

Lim joined more than 5,000 participants from over 80 countries at the annual event, which aims to boost global trade and economic cooperation. Hosted under the auspices of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the forum convened government officials, business leaders, and industry experts to explore strategies for expanding Russia’s international trade footprint.

During a panel discussion titled “From Government Support Measures to an Ecosystem,” Lim explored new avenues for promoting Russian products abroad, including pavilion expansion, retail channels, and branding strategies for the “Made in Russia” label.

On the sidelines, Lim met with representatives from Alpharma Company and Talina Group to discuss potential business partnerships in the pharmaceutical and animal feed sectors. He highlighted Cambodia’s favorable investment climate, including legal protections and preferential market access through free trade agreements.

Cambodia and Russia have steadily expanded their trade relations in recent years. In 2025, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to boosting bilateral trade, investment, and tourism. Ongoing negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between Cambodia and the Eurasian Economic Union, led by Russia, could further enhance market access and reduce tariffs. Preparations are also underway to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026, underscoring the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.
