Cambodia to Inaugurate Techo International Airport on Oct. 20

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct. 9, 2025) — Cambodia is set to officially inaugurate the Techo International Airport (KTI), a 4F-class facility, on Oct. 20 under the patronage of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, government officials announced.

The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation has urged travelers to cooperate with heightened security measures at the new airport, which is located outside the capital and expected to become a major regional hub.

Phase one of the $2 billion airport project has been recognized as one of the world’s 11 most remarkable architectural achievements, praised for its innovative and sustainable design.

The airport spans 2,600 hectares and is being developed in three phases. The first phase, completed in 2025, will accommodate up to 13 million passengers annually. Phase two, scheduled for completion in 2030, will expand capacity to 30 million passengers per year. The final phase, expected by 2050, will allow for up to 50 million passengers annually.

Officials say the Techo International Airport will play a critical role in boosting Cambodia’s aviation infrastructure and economic development.
