Cambodia and Rwanda reaffirm plans to deepen cooperation and trade
PHNOM PENH, March 19, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and Rwanda have pledged to expand bilateral trade and deepen cooperation, officials said Wednesday.
Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), met with Bakuramutsa Nkibito Manzi, Rwanda’s ambassador to Cambodia, to discuss ways to advance mutual economic interests.

Chanthol welcomed the ambassador on his official visit and highlighted Cambodia’s rapid post-conflict development. He outlined the CDC’s 2026 action plan, which includes investment roadshows abroad, stressing that Africa – and Rwanda in particular – is a key target for attracting investors and opening new business corridors between Southeast Asia and East Africa.
The two sides also discussed preparations for the 20th Francophonie Summit, which Cambodia will host later this year. Chanthol said Rwanda’s participation would help elevate diplomatic and economic ties within the Francophonie framework.
Both parties expressed strong commitment to turning discussions into concrete results, including business forums and private sector exchanges, aimed at ensuring that closer Cambodia–Rwanda cooperation delivers tangible benefits for both nations.
