Siem Reap Ready for Sangkran Surge with Stable Prices
SIEM REAP, April 8, 2026 (KPT) – Authorities and tourism operators in Siem Reap say they are prepared for a surge in visitors during the Khmer New Year, emphasizing stable prices, strengthened safety measures and improved sanitation to ensure smooth celebrations.
The province will host the Siem Reap Sangkran festival from April 14 to 16, featuring cultural and traditional activities aimed at boosting tourism and the local economy.

Hospitality providers said room rates remain stable despite rising costs. Teng Vannaroth, General Manager of J7 Angkor Hotel, noted that accommodation prices have been kept unchanged to support recovery and encourage higher turnout. She said the hospitality sector is ready to welcome both domestic and international guests.
Officials reassured travelers that Siem Reap remains a secure destination, with hotel occupancy already at 50 percent and expected to rise further. Governor Prak Sophoan has led preparations to ensure safety, public order and traffic management, including strategic road closures to ease congestion.
The celebrations will include boat racing competitions featuring decorated boats, dragon boats and traditional racing teams, alongside cultural performances and festive decorations across the city. Authorities are also intensifying efforts to maintain cleanliness, improve sanitation and manage waste effectively.
Local residents expressed optimism that the holiday will draw significant tourist numbers, reinforcing Siem Reap’s role as one of Cambodia’s top tourism hubs and home to iconic sites such as Angkor Wat.
