Cambodia Cuts Gasoline Price Below 4,000 Riel as Tax Relief Extended
PHNOM PENH, July 7, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has lowered the retail price of gasoline to under 4,000 riel per litre while extending fuel tax relief and subsidies to cushion households and businesses against volatile global oil markets and rising living costs.
A joint statement from the ministries of Economy and Finance, Commerce, and Mines and Energy said the new rates take effect from July 7 to 14. Regular gasoline (Gasoline 92) will sell at 3,950 riel (US$0.98) per litre, down 100 riel from the previous cycle, while 10ppm diesel rises by 100 riel to 4,100 riel (US$1.01).

Officials said the adjustment reflects regional and international price movements but maintains government support to ease financial pressures. The state continues to provide a subsidy of 6.5 US cents per litre, plus an additional cent because global benchmarks remain above US$90 per barrel for gasoline and US$100 for diesel. Customs duties on imported fuel remain at zero.
Prime Minister Hun Manet has upheld tax relief measures, halving the specific tax on gasoline to 15 percent, scrapping the 4 percent levy on diesel, and reducing VAT on gasoline to 4 percent while keeping diesel VAT at zero. The government absorbs the remaining tax burden of 6 percent for gasoline and 10 percent for diesel.
Energy Minister Keo Rottanak said last month the state is foregoing between US$55 million and US$70 million in monthly revenue through subsidies and tax cuts to shield consumers from global price shocks. Officials said the latest policy underscores the government’s commitment to stabilising energy costs, easing inflationary pressures and supporting economic activity amid uncertainty in world oil markets.
