PHNOM PENH, Feb 27, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence said Thursday that an ASEAN observer team has visited a disputed border area with Thailand to assess the situation following a ceasefire.

Spokesperson Lieutenant General Maly Socheata said the Cambodian Liaison Group facilitated the visit by the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to An Ses village in Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province.

The inspection, which took place at 13:05 local time on February 26, aimed to observe and verify developments along the border after the ceasefire came into effect.

According to the ministry, the team also inspected civilian sites and infrastructure, including homes Cambodia says were severely damaged during a Thai military attack in December 2025.

Cambodia said it has provided full support to the AOT and stressed the importance of strengthening its role to ensure effective implementation of the ceasefire, promote transparency and build mutual trust.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to agreements reached with Thailand, including the joint statement issued after the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee in December 2025 and the Peace Agreement signed in October 2025.

The statement said Cambodia remains committed to restoring normalcy, peace, stability and long-term security along the border.
