Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Vietnamese Party Chief Co-Chair Summit in Phnom Penh

PHNOM PENH, Feb 6, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Senate President and ruling party leader Samdech Techo Hun Sen co-chaired a summit with Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary To Lam in Phnom Penh on Friday.
The meeting between the Cambodian People’s Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam was held at the January 7 Palace, officials said.
To Lam arrived in Cambodia earlier in the day for an official state visit at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen, acting as head of state, hosted him at the Royal Palace and presided over the welcoming ceremony.
During the visit, the Vietnamese leader laid wreaths at national landmarks including the Independence Monument, the memorial of late King-Father Norodom Sihanouk, and the Cambodia–Vietnam Friendship Monument.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the visit aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation based on good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive partnership and long-term stability.
Separately, the Cambodian People’s Party announced a series of high-level meetings with political parties from Vietnam and Laos on February 6–7.
These include bilateral talks with the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, followed by a trilateral meeting involving all three parties.
The CPP said discussions would focus on reinforcing solidarity, cooperation and coordination in addressing shared regional challenges.
