Cambodian Ruling Party Congratulates Vietnam’s Communist Leader on Re-Election

PHNOM PENH, Jan 23, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has congratulated Excellency.To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV), on his re-election at the party’s 14th National Congress.
In a message dated January 23, CPP president Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the reappointment reflected strong confidence and trust from the CPV and the Vietnamese people in Lam’s leadership.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen praised Viet Nam’s progress under CPV guidance, citing sustained peace, political stability, economic growth and the country’s expanding role at regional and international levels.
He expressed confidence the CPV would continue to gain public support and successfully implement policies adopted at the congress.
The CPP reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties between the two parties and countries, highlighting their relationship of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term stability.”
The message concluded with well wishes for Excellency.Lam’s health and continued success in promoting the well-being and prosperity of the Vietnamese people.
Excellency. Lam was reappointed Friday as head of the ruling Communist Party for another five years after a unanimous vote by all 180 members of the newly formed central committee, the party said. In the one-party state, he pledged to accelerate growth in the export-driven economy.
