PHNOM PENH, Jan 13, 2026 (KPT) – United Nations Secretary General António Guterres has appointed Vladanka Andreeva of North Macedonia as the UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, the UN said Tuesday.

She assumed her post on January 10 with the host government’s approval. Her appointment follows the departure last week of Jo Scheuer, the previous Resident Coordinator.

Andreeva brings more than 25 years of experience in international development, humanitarian coordination, advocacy and partnership building.

She most recently served as UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, where she led the country team on sustainable development priorities, including post conflict recovery.

She also oversaw UN engagement in preparations for COP29 and advanced work on sustainable urbanisation ahead of the World Urban Forum.

Andreeva previously held senior roles with UNAIDS, including as Country Director in Cambodia, where she coordinated the UN system’s COVID 19 response.

She also worked with UNDP, WHO and OCHA, and earlier coordinated humanitarian relief for refugee communities with Pharmaciens Sans Frontières.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in dental medicine and a master’s degree in public health.
