Cambodia Calls for Stronger UN Support to Ensure Smooth LDC Graduation
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 3, 2025) — Cambodia has urged the United Nations to step up support for countries preparing to graduate from Least Developed Country status, stressing the need for sustainable financing, climate resilience and stronger digital governance.
Speaking during an interactive dialogue between UN member states and UN resident coordinators, Keo Chhea, Cambodia’s ambassador and permanent representative to the UN, called for long-term financial and capacity-building assistance for countries transitioning out of LDC status.

He said integrated development approaches that strengthen climate resilience and digital governance are critical to help nations meet emerging challenges.
Chhea also said greater coherence across the UN system is essential to improve resource mobilization and deliver more effective support on the ground.
He praised the strong partnership between Cambodia and the United Nations and underscored the UN’s role in helping the country advance the Sustainable Development Goals and prepare for a smooth graduation from LDC status in 2029.
