PHNOM PENH, April 21, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s government says its diplomatic, economic and social activities are continuing without interruption, despite ongoing efforts to safeguard territorial integrity.

Spokesman Pen Bona said on April 21 that authorities remain “active and comprehensive” across all sectors, including diplomacy, the economy, culture and tourism, while keeping national defence as their foremost priority.

His remarks come as Cambodia balances domestic development with external challenges, including regional tensions and global uncertainty.

In a sign of continued diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Hun Manet met Canada’s ambassador on April 20 to discuss strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in trade and investment.

Bona said the government is pressing ahead with its long term “Pentagonal Strategy” and Vision 2050 agenda, aimed at achieving high income status.

International financial institutions project Cambodia will maintain strong growth in 2026, while UN experts say the country remains on track to graduate from Least Developed Country status by 2029.

He reiterated that protecting sovereignty and citizens remains the government’s highest priority, alongside efforts to support living standards and national unity.
