PHNOM PENH, May 4, 2026 (KPT) — Environment Minister Eang Sophalleth has called on factories and enterprises to step up waste management practices and accelerate the adoption of green energy, stressing that sustainable industry is vital to protecting public health and ensuring long term resilience.

Speaking during a site visit to D’Luxe International Factory, Sophalleth reviewed production processes and compliance with environmental standards. He urged companies to improve the sorting, reduction and proper disposal of solid and plastic waste, while strengthening cooperation with waste collection providers and environmental organizations to ensure timely and efficient management.

The minister also encouraged factories to adopt renewable energy solutions, including biomass from King Grass and rooftop solar power, to cut carbon emissions and support the transition toward greener industry practices. He said such measures would help balance industrial expansion with environmental sustainability and reinforce corporate responsibility.

Maintaining high standards in waste and wastewater management will be critical to improving workplace conditions, safeguarding public health and building long term environmental resilience. The push reflects growing attention to cleaner production and Cambodia’s broader efforts to position itself as a regional leader in sustainable industry.
