PHNOM PENH, May 13, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Azerbaijan vowed to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation during high‑level talks in Phnom Penh, officials said Wednesday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn met Elchin Amirbayov, special representative of the Azerbaijani president, who is on a working visit to Cambodia from May 9 to 14.

Sokhonn congratulated Azerbaijan on last year’s historic joint declaration with Armenia, calling it a positive step toward peace and regional stability.

Both sides welcomed steady progress in bilateral relations and discussed expanding cooperation in politics, trade, investment, tourism and people‑to‑people exchanges.

The officials agreed to promote more high‑level visits and strengthen collaboration through regional and international frameworks, including the United Nations.

They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of shared concern, reaffirming the importance of international law and peaceful diplomatic solutions to disputes.

Sokhonn briefed the Azerbaijani delegation on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia–Thailand border issue.
