BEIJING, June 26, 2026 (KPT) — Chinese President Xi Jinping and Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties Friday, with talks in Beijing focusing on infrastructure, security cooperation and political exchanges.

The meeting took place during Samdech Techo’s official visit to China, according to Senate spokesperson Chea Thyrith.

Xi described the partnership as “solid as a rock” and recalled his state visit to Cambodia in 2025, which he said advanced the vision of building an “all‑weather Cambodia–China community with a shared future in the new era.”

Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Xi for the warm welcome, calling China Cambodia’s “old friend, true friend and trusted partner.” He said the friendship between the two countries would remain strong despite changes in the international environment.

According to Thyrith, the leaders discussed expanding cooperation in economic development, infrastructure and security. Samdech Techo urged China to continue supporting Cambodia’s infrastructure expansion, citing the country’s reliance on Chinese assistance for long‑term growth.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on security, information‑sharing and high‑level exchanges between their governments.

The leaders also discussed ties between the Cambodian People’s Party and the Communist Party of China.

During the visit, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding political dialogue and strengthening cooperation in training and developing young party members.

The talks highlighted the depth of Cambodia–China relations, with both sides pledging to deepen cooperation and support each other amid an increasingly complex global environment.
