Cambodia invites foreign military attachés to inspect border site, reaffirms peaceful resolution with Thailand

PHNOM PENH, Mar. 4 (KPT) – Cambodia has invited foreign military attachés to inspect a disputed border area with Thailand as part of efforts to monitor a ceasefire and demonstrate its commitment to a peaceful resolution.

The Ministry of National Defence said delegations from 12 countries visited Prey Chan village in Banteay Meanchey province, where officials showed them the site of an alleged attack and installations reportedly placed by Thai forces.

The inspection aimed to assess implementation of the ceasefire agreed on December 27, 2025.

Spokesperson Lieutenant General Maly Socheata said Cambodia remains committed to fully implementing agreements with Thailand, including the joint statement of the General Border Committee and the peace declaration signed in October.

Government spokesman Pen Bona reaffirmed that Cambodia is pursuing a diplomatic solution through the Joint Border Committee mechanism, in line with international law and existing treaties.

He stressed that unilateral attempts to alter the border by force would not be recognised. The measures are intended to restore normalcy, peace and long term stability along the frontier.
