Cambodia Acts Against Mango Firm Over Pollution Violations
PHNOM PENH, Feb 11, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s environment ministry has taken legal action against a Chinese-owned mango processing company after inspectors found it discharging untreated wastewater and operating without required permits.
JIAGUO Agricultural Technology (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., based in Kampong Thom province, was accused of failing to install proper treatment systems and lacking environmental documentation, officials said.
The ministry cited breaches of the Environmental and Natural Resources Code and ordered the company to halt polluted discharges, build a treatment system, and submit an impact assessment report. Production has been temporarily suspended.
Authorities also instructed the firm to improve boiler emissions, manage mango peel and seed waste, and banned all waste burning. The company must compensate for environmental damage based on official assessments.
Officials said the measures aim to enforce compliance, protect public health, and safeguard natural resources, reaffirming the government’s commitment to stricter environmental monitoring.
