Cambodia to Host GX Summit 2026 as Model for Community Tourism Recovery
PHNOM PENH, Jan 29, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has been chosen to host G Adventures’ GX Summit 2026, replacing Morocco as the venue for the global tourism gathering, in a move highlighting the Kingdom’s growing role as a model for community-based tourism recovery.
The Canadian adventure travel company confirmed the summit will run from September 23–28 in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

The venue change was made to better reflect GX’s mission of using travel as a force for good by supporting destinations where tourism can deliver meaningful benefits for local communities.
Now in its fourth year, GX brings together travel agents, industry leaders, media, trade partners, content creators and G Adventures staff to see firsthand how community tourism sustains livelihoods, preserves culture and creates long-term economic opportunities.
Founder Bruce Poon Tip described Cambodia as a “spectacular and very safe destination” poised to benefit from increased attention to community-focused tourism. “GX is so much more than a conference,” he said. “It’s about celebrating the power of travel done right, where our global community can help drive real, positive change.”
Previous hosts included Peru, India and Jordan, each chosen during periods of recovery. The summit is expected to draw hundreds of international tourism professionals, generating immediate economic activity and long-term visibility for Cambodia as a destination where tourism supports sustainable development and local prosperity.
