Cambodia and Brazil Seek to Boost Agro-Trade, Food Processing Investment
PHNOM PENH, Jan. 6, 2026, (KPT) — Cambodia and Brazil are moving to deepen economic cooperation with a focus on agriculture, agro-industry and food processing, as senior officials from both countries met to explore new trade and investment opportunities.
Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, first vice chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, received Vivian Loss Sanmartin, Brazil’s ambassador to Cambodia, for a courtesy call and working discussion aimed at expanding bilateral trade volumes to better reflect the economic potential of both nations.

The two sides identified agriculture and agro-industry as priority sectors, with talks centering on boosting import–export flows of agricultural products and sharing cultivation techniques. They also explored opportunities to attract Brazilian investors into Cambodia’s food processing industry to serve domestic, regional and international markets.
Discussions also covered potential cooperation in the electrical and electronics sector, including the development of production chains linking Cambodia and Brazil.
Officials said the two sides are considering a Cambodia investment roadshow in Brazil to promote opportunities under Cambodia’s new Law on Investment, encourage direct business-to-business partnerships and highlight Cambodia’s role as a gateway to ASEAN and the wider Asia-Pacific market.
The meeting comes after Cambodia posted record investment approvals in 2025. The CDC cleared 630 projects worth more than $10 billion, marking a 52 percent increase in approved projects compared with 2024. The investments are expected to create over 438,000 jobs nationwide, reflecting rising investor confidence and the impact of government reforms to improve the business climate.
Officials said the momentum underscores Cambodia’s growing appeal as a destination for diversified investment and its commitment to elevating bilateral cooperation with partners such as Brazil.
