Cambodia, China Deepen Strategic Ties as Beijing Backs Border Ceasefire
KUNMING, China, (Dec. 28, 2025) — Cambodia and China have reaffirmed their close strategic partnership as Beijing expressed strong support for the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand during high-level talks in Kunming, Yunnan Province.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, highlighting the traditional solidarity and longstanding “ironclad friendship” between the two countries, as well as the steady progress of bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

Sokhonn expressed deep appreciation for China’s active and constructive role in supporting the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire, noting that Beijing’s continued backing for peaceful dispute resolution through dialogue and diplomacy plays a vital role in ensuring the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire.
He said China’s support is essential to advancing a just and lasting peace along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
The meeting underscored both countries’ commitment to strengthening high-level exchanges and deepening strategic cooperation amid ongoing regional peace efforts.
