PHNOM PENH, March 17, 2026 (KPT) –The Royal government of Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting sovereignty and territorial integrity through peaceful and lawful means, spokesman Pen Bona said Tuesday.

Bona told reporters the government was pursuing “proactive and peaceful diplomacy” in line with international law to address border issues, stressing efforts at national, regional and international levels to reach a “fair, accurate and lasting” resolution.

He reiterated Cambodia’s position on the Cambodia–Thailand border as defined by the Franco Siamese Boundary Commission, citing international law, historical treaties, official maps and prior agreements.

He said Cambodia does not recognise border changes resulting from the use of force, describing this as “non negotiable.”

The government also highlighted support for military personnel and families affected by conflict.

Bona briefed on First Lady Pich Chanmony Hun Manet’s recent handover of three houses to families of fallen soldiers, accompanied by condolence messages from former Prime Minister Hun Sen, Bun Rany Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Authorities said policies include livelihood assistance, scholarships, debt relief and support funds, with microfinance institutions waiving interest or cancelling debts for some families.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has previously praised the armed forces and police for their “immeasurable” contributions to defending the nation.
