U.S. Invests $100M in Cambodia’s Techo International Airport Under $2.5B Indo‑Pacific Package
PHNOM PENH, June 5, 2026 (KPT) – The United States International Development Finance Corporation has approved $100 million for Cambodia’s Techo International Airport, part of a $2.5 billion Indo‑Pacific infrastructure package announced Friday.
The package, approved on June 3, includes financing to refinance the newly constructed airport, which the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh said would expand Cambodia’s aviation infrastructure and create wider opportunities for trade, economic growth and development.

DFC said the transaction underscores its role in mobilizing capital and expertise to strengthen one of Cambodia’s most important infrastructure assets. The deal remains subject to further procedures before final commitment, including congressional notification.
The investment package is part of DFC’s broader strategy to support critical infrastructure, energy security and supply chain resilience across the Indo-Pacific. “These deals exemplify the shift in DFC’s strategy,” Chief Executive Officer Ben Black said, adding that the investments would develop infrastructure in Southeast Asia, increase U.S. access to critical minerals and build new platforms for peace and prosperity.
Among the approved projects is a $1.5 billion investment platform with U.S.-based I Squared Capital, the largest single project in DFC’s history. The initiative aims to accelerate energy infrastructure development in South and Southeast Asia, focusing on liquefied natural gas and other projects to address gaps that constrain industrial growth, contribute to price volatility and undermine long-term energy security.
DFC said the platform will also help strengthen regional supply chains and support economic development by expanding access to reliable energy and increasing connectivity across key Indo-Pacific markets.
For Cambodia, the inclusion of Techo International Airport signals growing international confidence in its infrastructure ambitions and its emergence as a transportation and logistics hub in Southeast Asia.
