HANOI, June 9, 2026 (KPT) — Business leaders from Cambodia and Vietnam have pledged to strengthen economic cooperation and expand investment opportunities as the two countries seek to boost trade and deepen private-sector collaboration, officials said Monday.

The commitment was underscored at the Cambodia-Vietnam Business Forum and Business Matching Event, jointly organized by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Hanoi. The forum coincided with Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet’s official visit to Vietnam and his participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum.

The gathering brought together executives, investors, and representatives of leading enterprises from both countries to explore investment prospects and forge strategic partnerships across key sectors.

Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Chair of ASEAN-BAC Cambodia, said the diplomatic ties established in 1967 have evolved into a robust economic partnership. He noted that Vietnam remains one of Cambodia’s top trading partners within ASEAN and highlighted the shared goal of raising bilateral trade to $20 billion.

Meng urged both governments to simplify cross-border procedures and upgrade border checkpoints to international standards to facilitate the movement of goods and strengthen regional connectivity.

Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, praised the growing business relationship and emphasized the role of VCCI and CCC as vital bridges linking the Cambodian and Vietnamese private sectors.

He identified three priority areas for future cooperation: expanding market access to Vietnam’s consumer base of more than 100 million people, developing joint value chains, and organizing training programs to enhance the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The forum also featured business-to-business meetings focused on sectors with strong growth potential, including digital technology, agriculture and logistics, manufacturing, real estate, and infrastructure development.

Participants exchanged views on opportunities in digital infrastructure, advanced agricultural processing, supply chain logistics, industrial manufacturing, and large-scale development projects.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation and greater private-sector engagement to drive trade, investment, and economic growth between Cambodia and Vietnam.
