VIENTIANE, June 24, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Laos have pledged to deepen agricultural cooperation, expand bilateral trade and strengthen collaboration to facilitate exports to China through Lao transit routes, officials said Tuesday.

The commitment was highlighted during talks between Cambodian Agriculture Minister Dith Tina and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on June 23 as part of Tina’s official visit to Vientiane.

Leading a high‑level delegation, Tina conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Hun Manet and briefed Siphandone on outcomes of bilateral discussions between the two agriculture ministries.

Tina outlined priority areas including boosting trade volumes, promoting private‑sector business matching and enhancing cooperation on exports to China via Lao transport corridors. Siphandone welcomed the message from Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and praised the growing partnership, stressing the potential for joint conservation projects to ensure sustainable management of forests and wildlife.

According to Cambodia’s Agriculture Ministry, the visit aims to strengthen agricultural cooperation, promote Cambodian exports to international markets, advance conservation initiatives and explore opportunities to connect supply chains.

Officials said this includes linking fertilizer production inputs from Laos to Cambodia, underscoring efforts to build resilient agricultural systems and expand regional market access.
