BEIJING, June 26, 2026 (KPT) — Chinese President Xi Jinping said Friday that China is ready to establish a stronger security partnership with Cambodia and work closely with the country to tackle telecom and online fraud.

Xi made the remarks during a meeting in Beijing with Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of Cambodia’s Senate and leader of the Cambodian People’s Party.

He praised Cambodia’s determination to crack down on scam operations and welcomed its continued efforts to combat transnational cybercrime.

Senate spokesperson Chea Thyrith said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security cooperation, including expanding information‑sharing and coordination on law enforcement and other security‑related matters.

The meeting also underscored the close relationship between Phnom Penh and Beijing, with both leaders highlighting cooperation across multiple sectors, particularly the economy and infrastructure.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on China to continue supporting Cambodia’s infrastructure development, describing Chinese assistance as vital to the country’s long‑term growth.

Thyrith added that Xi’s pledge reflects the depth of Cambodia‑China ties, which continue to expand across political, economic and security fields.
