PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Jan. 2, 2026) — Cambodia earned about $1.5 billion from exporting one million tons of raw cashew nuts in 2025, a 27 percent increase from the previous year, according to unofficial data from the Cashew Association of Cambodia.

The association reported total production of 1,020,757 tons, underscoring the sector’s resilience despite climate variability. Association president Oun Silot said the strong performance came in spite of severe weather disruptions in March that threatened harvests and raised fears of production declines.

Conditions improved in April after the association introduced climate adaptive measures, with yields recovering through May and June as weather stabilized. Silot said the final results sharply contrasted with early concerns, crediting three years of efforts to promote organic farming and climate resilient practices.

“Our goal is to empower farmers with proven techniques that help them earn more income from their farmland,” Silot said.

Industry observers noted that improved weather and farmer training were key to sustaining growth. They said Cambodia’s cashew sector continues to expand despite mounting climate uncertainty, positioning the crop as one of the country’s most reliable agricultural exports.
