Diamond Princess Docks in Sihanoukville, Signaling Cambodia’s Stability and Tourism Comeback

SIHANOUKVILLE, Cambodia (Dec. 30, 2025) — Cambodia on Monday welcomed the international cruise ship Diamond Princess, which docked at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port carrying nearly 3,000 tourists from 52 countries, in what officials called a strong signal of the nation’s peace, political stability and tourism resurgence.

The official welcoming ceremony was led by Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Preah Sihanouk provincial governor Mang Sineth. The Bermuda-flagged vessel, measuring 288 meters long and 37 meters wide, arrived with 2,850 passengers who visited beach resorts, pagodas and the Central Market.

Hak said the arrival underscored Cambodia’s enduring peace and stability, achievements he credited to policies introduced by longtime leader Hun Sen nearly three decades ago. He added that Cambodia has maintained stability and broad-based development over the past two years, moving toward its Vision 2050 goal of becoming a high-income nation.

“The docking of the Diamond Princess today is not a coincidence,” Hak said. “It sends a clear message to the world that Cambodia is peaceful, safe and fully capable of welcoming international visitors and investors at all times.”

Local authorities said the cruise ship’s arrival boosts tourism, supports local businesses and creates jobs in Preah Sihanouk province, reinforcing Cambodia’s recovery and global tourism comeback.
