Cambodia, Singapore Reaffirm Friendship, Eye $10B Trade Goal

PHNOM PENH, March 11, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn held talks with his Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan on Tuesday, reaffirming close friendship and pledging to deepen cooperation across trade, investment and diplomacy.
The meeting in Singapore underscored both countries’ commitment to strengthening long-standing bilateral ties that contribute to regional peace, stability and prosperity.
Officials said discussions also covered regional and international issues of mutual concern, including recent developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
Balakrishnan hosted a luncheon in honour of Sokhonn and his delegation, highlighting the importance Singapore places on ties with Cambodia.
The visit comes amid expanding cooperation between the two nations. Last week, Cambodia and Singapore pledged to raise bilateral trade to US$10 billion in the coming years as Singapore’s ambassador concluded her mission in Phnom Penh.
Former Prime Minister Hun Sen awarded Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Sahametrei in recognition of her five-year tenure.
